In mid April, while I was still focused on wildfire preparedness, I started warming up for this throwing session with 100 pounds of my raku clay body. This clay had been aging for over a year, so it was extremely workable. I also don't have to worry about sizing or matching pieces, which makes for a pleasant warm up.
It was still raining in April; I had hoped to finish some of them before summer. Unfortunately, Wildfire season is upon us now, so I will have to wait until the rains return. If we get rain in November or December, then I will offer these pieces for Christmas. For a glimpse of my raku process, please have a look at my video, Throwing and Firing Raku (click here).
